The visual identity of CRTA has been recognized for innovation and received an award from the prestigious Art Directors Club of New York (ADC Awards)
The visual identity of the Regional Center of Excellence for Robotics Technologies (CRTA) has been recognized for innovation by the prestigious Art Directors Club of New York (ADC Awards), the longest-running international awards for advertising and design. CRTA is a robotics laboratory operating within the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture at the University of Zagreb, and its visual identity was created with the assistance of artificial intelligence and the Bruketa&Žinić&Grey agency. Students wrote the name of the laboratory, "CRTA," by hand, and their handwriting served as input data for the artificial intelligence. By processing this information, numerous visual elements were generated, forming the basis for the visual identity.
"The idea of applying artificial intelligence in creating the visual identity of CRTA was inspired by the holistic nature of the Regional Center of Excellence for Robotics Technologies. CRTA aims to be a place of excellence in scientific and educational terms, but also a place where robotics, in synergy with artificial intelligence, is interpreted not only as a technology or skill but as a culture. Today, the development of artificial intelligence is moving towards enhancing human intelligence in a way that fosters human creativity and innovation. Artificial intelligence is not burdened by scientific and cultural patterns and can offer completely new perspectives and solutions to the given issues. In the case of developing the visual identity of CRTA, artificial intelligence provided its design interpretation of the corresponding graphemes, which designers then reshaped into a completely new 'visual.' It clearly involves the collaboration of two types, human and artificial intelligence, which strive to be equally good but inevitably different," said Prof. Dr. Bojan Jerbić. "This visual identity emerged through the collaboration of different species, the collaboration of human and artificial intelligence, and it seems to have successfully integrated new species into the working environment," said Davor Bruketa, Creative Director of Bruketa&Žinić&Grey agency. At this year's 101st Art Directors Club of New York competition, the visual identity for CRTA received recognition for innovation in the Brand/Communication Design category. This visual identity has already been awarded the Red Dot Award and became the first Croatian graphic design selected for the Dezeen Award, the most influential global media for design and architecture."
