




At an international conference SPIE Sensors + Imaging 2025, which took place in Madrid this year, was attended by our assistant Branimir Ćaran.
This conference is among the world's leading events dedicated to the latest achievements in the field of advanced sensors, image processing technologies, and the application of autonomous systems in various domains.
Branimir participated in the section Autonomous Systems for Security and Defense, where he presented the results of research within the project ROBOCAMP.
The work entitled "A multimodal UAV framework for robust human localization and tracking in search and rescue scenarios using sensor fusion and deep learning" brings new solutions in the development and testing of unmanned aerial vehicles that combine multiple different sensors – such as vision cameras, GPS and other data sources – with advanced deep learning algorithms.
This enables reliable recognition and tracking of people in complex and demanding search and rescue scenarios, where conditions are often variable and unpredictable. Special attention is paid to the application of methods sensor fusion approach, which, by combining different sensor data, achieves a higher level of system robustness and significantly improves localization accuracy in real-world conditions.
In addition to the scientific program, the conference also included an extensive exhibition section, where numerous international companies from the fields of defense, sensors, and computer vision presented their products and innovations. This gave participants the opportunity to learn about the latest technological solutions, current trends and challenges in the industry, as well as to establish valuable contacts between the academic community and the industrial sector.
Participation in such an event not only contributes to strengthening the international visibility of our research work, but also opens up new opportunities for collaboration and knowledge transfer between scientists, experts, and industrial partners.
