More than 80 elementary school students from Glina participated in a robotics workshop at CRTA.

On Thursday, October 14, 2021, a workshop titled "Construction, Robotics, and Computer Science are also Female Jobs" was held at CRTA.

More than 80 students from "Glina" Elementary School participated in the workshop, which was organized as part of a large European project ASAP conducted by three faculties from Zagreb: Faculty of Civil Engineering, FMENA and FER.

The goal of the gathering was to motivate and direct younger generations towards choosing careers in STEM fields, particularly girls who are still underrepresented in engineering roles, despite a recent increase in the number of female students enrolling in technical fields.

Along with the tour of CRTA and presentations on the basics of robotics, the students had the opportunity to participate in a total of six engaging workshops. These workshops covered topics such as programming industrial and collaborative robots, brain surgery robotics, metal object fabrication and 3D printing, tic-tac-toe games against robots, mobile robot driving, and operating robotic hands.

The workshops at CRTA were conducted by the center's researchers, as well as students from the Mechatronics and Robotics and Autonomous Systems and Artificial Intelligence programs. They show all the center's laboratories to the students, which house over twenty modern robotic systems of various types and sizes with broad applications in industry and medicine.

The students were thrilled by the state-of-the-art robotics technology, with particular attention given to the humanoid robots with whom they could engage in conversations. They were also captivated by the mobile robots, including Spot from Boston Dynamics, whose movements they could directly control.

We would like to express our gratitude to all of our students who contributed to the workshop, especially Mihaela, Ivana, Paula, and Franjo.

A filming crew from the TV show "Županijska panorama - Zagreb" attended the workshop. The episode featuring the workshop was aired on HRT4 on October 14, 2021(the segment can be watched on the platform HRTi).
