The first Croatian Robotics Conference was held – a unique event dedicated to robotics in Croatia

The first edition was held last week Croatian Robotics Conference – the first conference in the Republic of Croatia dedicated entirely to robotics. The event is organized by the Robotics Association DOF, which consists of doctoral students from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture (FSB) and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER). Among the organizers are doctoral students Tara Knežević and Pietro Kristović, both from FSB, who participated in the preparation and organization of the conference.

The conference was a two-day event, with clearly divided programs for professionals and the general public. On the first day, Thursday, May 15, the conference was closed and intended exclusively for experts in the field of robotics. About 120 guests gathered, including doctoral students, professors, researchers, engineers and industry representatives. There were 13 expert lectures by doctoral students, including lectures by Jurica Cvetić and Branimir Ćaran from FSB, and a panel discussion entitled How to PhD, which was also attended by Assistant Professor Filip Šuligoj. The goal of the program was to encourage the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and ideas among stakeholders in the robotics community.

On the second day, Friday, May 16, the conference doors were opened to the general public. Around 500 visitors attended throughout the day, including students from FSB and FER and numerous high school students from Zagreb and Čakovec. Visitors had the opportunity to participate in interactive workshops, watch demonstrations of advanced robotic systems and learn about solutions in the field of robotics – from precise robotic arms for use in medical robotics and autonomous vehicles to autonomous drones and underwater robots. A panel entitled Technology transfer – from academia to industry, which was attended by assistant professor Bojan Šekoranja.

Additionally, exhibition spaces of conference sponsor companies and student associations operating in the field of technology and engineering were presented.

First edition Croatian Robotics Conference showed great interest and need for such events in Croatia.
