The company ATLANTIC TRADE d.o.o. on August 17, 2020, started the implementation of the project "Research and development of an intelligent modular platform for managing the logistics process", which was co-financed with funds from the European Regional Development Fund. The project was carried out in accordance with the rules within the framework of the Public call for the submission of project proposals for the allocation of grants "Increasing the development of new products and services resulting from research and development activities - phase II" and is subject to the regulations applicable to the management and use of funds based on the Competitiveness and Cohesion Operational Program 2014 – 2020. The intermediary body of level 1 (PT1) is the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, and the intermediary body of level 2 (PT2) is the Croatian Agency for Small Business, Innovation and Investments (HAMAG-BICRO).

The analysis of the situation on the logistics market revealed several factors that cause the impossibility of efficient, reliable, centralized and holistic management of end2end logistics processes, primarily in logistics and distribution centers, which results in financial losses in the form of high material, operational and opportunity costs, and the negative effects spill over to end users and cause higher prices, delays and wrong deliveries. The central problem that is defined here is a consequence of the following factors: Impossibility of exploiting the existing information capital generated through business, dependence on human executors in the ordering process, and difficult cost-effective and operationally efficient implementation of new technologies in logistics processes.

The goal of the project is the development of an intelligent modular platform for managing the logistics process.

The goal of the project was, through the development of the logistics industry, to enable better business results for businessmen and to improve the quality of life and availability of products for users around the world. The objective was achieved by the implementation of research and development activities based on which a modular platform for managing logistics processes was developed.

The implementation of the project developed a prototype of a powerful and robust IT tool intended for efficient management of the end2end logistics process in logistics-distribution centers, which will address today's pressing challenges on the market and effectively solve the central problem.

The results and effects of the project must be viewed from the perspective of the target groups, i.e. legal and natural persons who directly benefit at the level of project activities:

  1. ATLANTIC TRADE, as an applicant, increased market competitiveness through business diversification and entry into a new market niche;
  2. ATLANTIC GROUP, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture, and GIDEON BROTHERS, partners in the consortium, gained new knowledge and the possibility of their exploitation on a commercial or scientific basis;
  3. 47 employees who directly participated in the implementation of project activities, through the implementation of IRI activities, increased their personal competitiveness, acquired new scientific and technical knowledge and competencies that resulted in collaborative cooperation.

In addition to the target groups, end users, i.e. customers of solutions, providers of logistics and distribution services, will also benefit, who will receive a product with superior technical characteristics, and in ATLANTIC TRADE a reliable business partner who will provide them with high quality accompanying services.

The project was co-financed by the European Union from the European Fund for Regional Development within the Operational Program Competitiveness and Cohesion 2014-2020.
