INSIGHT Project BMW Group and the University of Zagreb: AI Models for More Efficient Processes

BMW Group and the University of Zagreb's Centre of Excellence for Robotic Technologies (CRTA) are continuing their collaboration on the research project „INSIGHT.“ The goal of this project is to develop artificial intelligence-based models for optimizing the production of battery cells across the entire value chain – from electrode manufacturing and final testing to direct recycling.

At the BMW Group's Battery Cell Competence Center (BCCC) in Munich, numerous tests are being conducted. The „INSIGHT“ project uses artificial intelligence to precisely predict process parameters and performance based on historical and current data. The collaboration is now yielding its first concrete results: using the models, the duration and number of tests can be significantly reduced while maintaining the same or even improving quality. In individual processes, material and time costs are reduced by more than 50 percent.

Additional information can be found in the BMW Group press release.
