Cooperation between the UNIZG FSB, CRTA and BMW Group
On November 16, 2023, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture (UNIZG FSB) and the Regional Center of Excellence for Robotic Technology (CRTA) signed a project task with the renowned company BMW Group from Munich, which marks the official start of the partnership on the development of the latest artificial intelligence models in the field of production development of this prestigious automobile company.
At the ceremonial signing of the project assignment, which took place at FSB, the representatives from BMW Group were Mr. Moritz Poremba, head of the development of battery cell technology and recycling of the BMW Group - Factory BCCC, and Mr. Ivan Rumenović, project manager for the production logistics ordering system of the BMW Group - Factory BCCC. From the FSB side the ceremony was attended by FSB Dean prof. Zdenko Tonković, vice dean for scientific work and cooperation with the industry, prof. Igor Karšaj, and the head of the Regional Center of Excellence for Robotic Technology (CRTA) assist. prof. Marko Švaco.
The project task as a reference represents a significant step towards strengthening the ties between the academic community and industry, and at the same time opens the door for innovation and advanced technological advances in the field of artificial intelligence.
After the signing ceremony, Mr. Poremba and Mr. Rumenović gave an inspiring lecture on "Manufacturing steps and data mining in prototype battery cell production". The interest in the lecture was extremely high, with more than two hundred students and employees of the Faculty, while the lecturers shared their professional knowledge and experience with the enthusiastic audience.
This partnership represents a major step forward for the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture and confirms its role in the development of technology and innovation expertise. Cooperation with BMW will contribute to the further development of technological solutions that will shape the future of production in the automotive industry.
