Scientific conference on new methods and technologies of battery systems for electric vehicles held at the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts

On Friday, March 28, 2025, in the hall of the HAZU Library in Zagreb, a scientific conference entitled "New Methods and Technologies of Battery Systems for Electric Vehicles" was held, organized by the Scientific Council for Oil and Gas Economy and Energy and the Scientific Council for Transport, in cooperation with the research projects INSIGHT, LIONbat and MLBattProt.

The conference brought together leading domestic and international experts from academia and industry with the aim of presenting the latest research, challenges and solutions in the field of development, production and recycling of battery systems and their applications in electric vehicles.

As part of the INSIGHT project - Intelligent data models for the production and recycling of battery articles, presentations were given by Moritz Poremba, head of technology development for the recycling of battery articles in the BMW Group, Ivan Rumenović, manager of the INSIGHT project at the Competence Center for Battery Articles of the BMW Group, and asst. Ph.D. sc. Marko Švaco, head of the Regional Center of Excellence for Robotic Technologies CRTA and head of the INSIGHT project at the FSB.

Moritz Poremba spoke about connecting production and recycling processes using data mining algorithms, Ivan Rumenović presented challenges in the application of artificial intelligence in the production of battery articles, while Assoc. Ph.D. sc. Marko Švaco presented current research in modeling and optimization of production processes using AI methods.

In addition to them, the conference was also attended by Prof. Dr. Sc. Zoran Mandić (FKIT), Dr. Sc. Matea Raić (IRB), Prof. Dr. Sc. Mario Vašak (FER) and Matija Matijašić (Rimac Technology), who further enriched the conference with their presentations on advanced materials, management methodologies and the application of artificial intelligence in the field of battery systems.

The scientific meeting emphasized the importance of inter-institutional and industrial-academic cooperation in the development of new technologies and innovative solutions for a sustainable future of electric mobility.
